SUBJECT: Burley Emergency Maintenance
On Monday, August 25, Northwest experienced a mechanical failure on the turbine
at the Burley compressor station. A new unit is being prepared for shipment to
the site and Northwest hopes to begin the turbine replacement on Friday or
Saturday, with the unit returning to service on Saturday or Sunday.
With only one operational unit at the station, the available capacity will be
reduced to 493,000 Dth/d beginning August 27, 2008. Northwest will inform
shippers of the firm end date for the work when more information becomes
available.
Please note that this engine replacement will eliminate the scheduled
replacement on 9/30-10/1.
Again, as requested in the All Shippers Letter sent yesterday, customers should
stay on rate. With the Jackson Prairie facility unavailable, Northwest has
only line pack with which to balance its system.
